Not that anyone's surprised

But the Internet has a horrible fundamental bug that could let everything be taken over by a good hack.

Much to everyones surprise, they managed to work out the problem, fix it and release patches on every platform without leaking the bug or letting anyone know.  (At least we think, there is no way to know FOR SURE if no one knows or is exploiting it.)

Anyways, patch you computer, less you fall vulnerable to the legions of attacks that will arise when the bug is common knowledge some time in the possibly near future.

Decent article outlining it: http://afp.google.com/article/ALeqM5iIBJodZSykmEIuG_I9B0DUdvCBiw

Check if your computer is vulnerable: http://www.doxpara.com/

Another good looking article I couldn't be bothered to read after reading the first two: http://securosis.com/2008/07/08/dan-kaminsky-discovers-fundamental-issue-in-dns-massive-multivendor-patch-released/

More verbose explanation I didn't read: http://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/800113
